L’EAU ET L’ARGILE DANS LA CREATION EN ISLAM ET DANS LES RELIGIONS TRADITIONNELLES AFRICAINES

Résumé:L’Islam a très vite compris que les religions traditionnelles africaines étaient les boucliers protecteurs des cultures africaines, boucliers dont il fallait se débarrasser pour s’imposer. La diabolisation de ces religions traditionnelles africaines fut alors l’une des stratégies utilisées par l’Islam pour s’imposer en Afrique noire. Pendant longtemps, cette stratégie a semé cette idée qu’il n’y avait point de passerelles religieuses entre la religion venue de l’Arabie et les réalités religieuses africaines. Notre article, à travers l’étude des cosmogonies et théogonies africaines et de l’Islam, montre qu’en réalité, une telle assertion est sans fondement. Il existe en effet des similitudes énormes entre l’Islam et les religions traditionnelles africaines. L’acceptation de l’Islam par les populations africaines peut être même largement imputée à l’existence de ces passerelles religieuses.

Abstract:From the beginning of its religious conquest in Africa, Islam has understood that African Traditional Religions were the major obstacle it needed to overcome to triumph and increase the ranks of its converts. As a result, Islam launched a forceful campaign designed to diabolize African Traditional Religions. For many years, that strategy has led to the belief that there were no common denominators between Islam and the African Traditional Religions. Our investigation of Islamic and African cosmogonies and theogonies shows not only there were several similarities between the two religious beliefs, but that the14massive adherence of Africans to the new religion could partly be the result of those shared similarities and beliefs.
