LA DISTANCIATION PROFESSIONNELLE DES GYNÉCOLOGUES : POURQUOI CERTAINS REFUSENT-ILS DE CONSULTER LEURS PROCHES ?

Résumé : L’étude explore la distanciation professionnelle des
gynécologues ivoiriens face à leurs proches. Inscrite dans une
approche compréhensive, elle mobilise une triangulation
qualitative combinant entretiens semi-directifs, observations
participantes et analyse de récits de pratiques. L’objectif est
d’analyser les logiques sociales et symboliques sous-jacentes à
ce refus. Les résultats révèlent une tension entre les normes
déontologiques, les attentes culturelles et l’impératif
d’objectivation clinique. La proximité affective induit un
inconfort éthique, un risque de jugement moral et une altération
de la neutralité professionnelle. La discussion met en lumière
l’intersection entre habitus médical, régulations sociales et
gestion des émotions dans l’espace clinique. En conclusion, cette
distanciation s’inscrit dans une rationalité située, où le maintien
de la posture médicale prime sur les impératifs relationnels,
redéfinissant ainsi les frontières entre sphères privée et
professionnelle.

Abstract: This study explores the professional distancing of
Ivorian gynecologists from their relatives. Using a
comprehensive approach, it employs a qualitative triangulation
combining semi-directive interviews, participant observation
and analysis of practice accounts. The aim is to analyze the social
and symbolic logic underlying this refusal. The results reveal a
tension between ethical standards, cultural expectations and the
need for clinical objectivity. Emotional proximity leads to ethical
discomfort, a risk of moral judgement and an alteration in
