Résumé

Effect of physical parameters on the content of total mercury (HgT) in the water column of a tropical aquatic system: Central basin of the Ebrié lagoon (Cote d'Ivoire)

This study was carried out in order to know the variation of the concentration of total mercury (HgT) and the values of the physical parameters in a water column. The experimental area is the Ebrié lagoon. For the execution of the work, six (6) sampling sites were selected. The physical parameters were measured using electrochemical probes. Mercury concentration was determined by Direct Mercury Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry (DMA). The HgT concentration ranges from 0.02 ng/L (Bingerville and Mbadon sites) and 0.25±0.02 ng/L to 7.10±0.05 ng/L (Biétry and Adipodoumé sites). The average levels: 0.75±0.03 ng/L, 1.90±0.03 ng/L, 2.00±0.05 ng/L and 3.00±0.01 ng/L were found on the sites of Koumassi, Biétri, Adiopodoumé 1 and Adiopodoumé 2, respectively. The PCA results showed that the physical parameters have no direct influence on the concentration of HgT in the water column. On the other hand, a good correlation emerged between the physical parameters.
